Dr. Lesedi Senamele Matlala

Dr. Lesedi Senamele Matlala is a Lecturer at the School of Public Management, Governance, and Public Policy at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), specializing in Public Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Governance, and Public Sector Auditing. With over eight years of experience in academia and consultancy, Dr. Matlala has contributed extensively to enhancing service delivery and promoting transparency within public institutions. His work in public sector auditing focuses on bridging the gap between audit recommendations and actionable improvements in governance and public service delivery

Dr. Matlala holds a PhD in Public Management, Governance, and Evaluation from the University of Johannesburg, along with a Master's degree in Public Management and Governance. He is actively engaged with global evaluation associations such as the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), the European Evaluation Society (EES), and the American Evaluation Association (AEA). In addition, he mentors emerging evaluators through SAMEA and EvalYouth, helping shape the future of evaluation in Africa.

A passionate advocate for youth empowerment, Dr. Matlala is involved with various youth development initiatives and has contributed to research on sustainable development, public sector reform, and evidence-based policy-making. His work has been presented at various international conferences, solidifying his reputation as a leader in public policy, governance, and public sector auditing.
